Moral question for Wiccans?

I've just planted a flower bed which was almost immediatley destroyed by an army of snails and slugs.

Now I'm in a moral quandry, do I let the flowers get eaten (which seems more in line with nature and the food chain but means I put in a lot of hard work only for it to be ruined almost immediatly) or do I stop the snails and slugs from eating them and therefore allow the flowers to live (but very likely end up killing the slugs and snails).

It seems like I would have to kill a lot of snails and slugs to keep my flower bed alive, but then if I don't I feel guilty that I'm letting my flower bed die.

What can you advise?

in a flower bed, i would not kill the snails and slugs. if it were a garden that i was counting on for food, then the slugs would have to go. but that is simple rule of nature, everything will protect it's food source.

now as for the snails and slugs. there are ways to keep them out, without killing them.

1, soak a heavy cord or rope in salt water. then use it to circle your flowers, they will not cross it. and light contact will cause discomfort, but not death.

2, use raised or elevated flowerbeds. something with a very sharp angle. if it is not easy to get to they will seek other food.

let your conscience be your guide..... we play a role in taking care of things we love in nature.... I would look for a natural enemy to slugs... I know lady bugs work against aphids.... I invite them into my garden to protect the flowers... I you are worried about chemicals that's a solution... usually there is a natural predator that eliminates the threat without causing harm to the plant life.... flowers represent flora part of her anyway her greatest and strongest are of course the trees..... I'm sure they will be grateful to be protected...
