I have bell pepper plants that are 3 ft tall, but bearing no peppers.?

The plants had blooming flowers and peppers started to grow, then only to disappear. I've notice ants on the plants which seem to be healthy plants. What could be the problem?

You could/may have a pollination problem. The peppers only develop a little bit if the plant is not pollinated. You can help by taking a small paint brush and gather pollen from one flower and transfer it to the other. You can identify the male flower from the female by looking at the bottom of the flower. The female has a "bulb/ball looking thing at its base. Another thought would be that if there is too much nitrogen your plant will produce all leaves/greenery and not the flowers/fruit.

ok I had another thought or two....Many vegetable growers use Sevin dust. This insecticide is known for and LABLED for killing bees....no bees, likely no pollination....another thought is that peppers like tomatos need to be rotated every few seaons. If they are not you increase your probability of virus's, nemetodes etc...this can also affect the development of the peppers.

could be fertilization problem. use more of them.

Other Replys:Different times of the year different plants bloom and also make their fruit or vegetable. Also there's stages in plants lives. So it could just be normal if your plant looks healthy.

Just keep taking care of your plants and keep the ants away. They are not helping. Maybe give your plant more sun, and only give it added fertilizer or miracle grow or soemthing if you ask a specialist or look at a site about it.
